Rock Camp Opportunities

YOU can make a difference!

Some of our volunteer positions require musical knowledge, but many do not. Folks who are female, trans, or gender non-conforming are welcome to apply for leadership positions at camp, including as Camp Counselors, Band Coaches, Instrument Instructors, and Workshop Leaders. Non-leadership roles are open to individuals who are cis men.

Positions Available For Virtual Rock Camp

Camp Counselor

In this position you will serve as a mentor for your assigned band(s) and make sure they are where they need to be at all times. Camp Counselors with musical experience may also coach campers on their instruments throughout the day and during band practice. Camp Counselors build relationships with campers, serving as caring adults campers can talk with about their experiences, music, and social justice.

Band Coach

Support camper bands through the creative process of writing lyrics, coming up with a band name and logo, and recording the song using SoundTrap. Band Coaches help the campers learn how to play as a group (both musically and interpersonally), as well as help them to prepare a song for the showcase!

Instrument Instructor

Teach group instrument lessons to campers of various ages and skill levels via Zoom! Recommended previous experience teaching lessons virtually. We are looking for instructors for bass, drums, guitar, keyboard and vocals. The musical experience of our campers will vary greatly. Some may have previous music experience whereas others may have never even touched an instrument.

Workshop Leader

Have a skill you want to share, like tuning a guitar or warming up your voice? Knowledgeable and passionate about a topic you'd like to discuss related to music or anti-racism and social justice? Lead a workshop with campers virtually on Zoom! Each of our workshops values the encouragement of creativity, self-expression, and awareness of our campers. Workshops will be loosely divided by age, and may be taught once or twice throughout the day. Some workshop examples may be: zine making, diy music production, history of popular music, songwriting, self-defense, music and mental health.

Lunchtime Performer

Give campers an at-home, virtual concert experience! Perform your music live via Zoom while our campers eat lunch! Sets are 30 min with time for a brief Q&A. All musical genres welcome to perform!
